Didn’t get your fill of chocolate on Valentine’s Day? Neither did we, which is why we’ve made super yummy Endangered Species Chocolate March’s product of the month. Endangered Species Chocolate (ESC) was founded in 1993 in an effort to spread awareness and to make an impact on the growing number of plant and animal species that are disappearing from Earth. Since then the mission has grown to embrace a new definition of “endangered” - that all species, habitat and humanity are endangered on our planet, not just animals on a list. 10 percent of the company’s net profits are donated to help support these groups.
For those of you who crave premium, all-natural chocolate – and who share our commitment to protect the Earth, ESC is worth checking out. Each bar of chocolate wears a label made from recycled paper and features a picture of one of Earth’s 51,000 at-risk species as well as information about the plight of these animals. Labels are printed with soy-based ink and the chocolate is manufactured and shipped from ESC’s LEED certified facility.
In addition to being tasty to eat and environmentally friendly, Endangered Species Chocolate’s single-origin milk and dark chocolate bars are premium organic, ethically traded and shade-grown. ESC confirms that all of their chocolate is created from ethically traded, shade grown cacao grown on small family-owned properties that support the habitats and communities in which they exist. ESC’s organic cacao is sourced from Dominican Republic where fair prices are paid for all harvested products used in making Endangered Species Chocolate and a fair wage and humane working conditions are ensured for all workers. What better way to get your daily dose of flavonoids? For retail locations, or to order online, check out their website.
