May’s Product of the Month: Preserve Toothbrushes

Preserve toothbrushes are made from recycled plastic (mostly yogurt cups) and are 100% recyclable themselves. When your Preserve toothbrush is ready for retirement, the company sends you a postage-paid mailer to return it to them for recycling. Preserve converts your old toothbrush into plastic lumber, which is used for things like picnic tables in parks! For more info on Preserve toothbrushes, including where to buy them, go to: http://www.recycline.com/index.html. (And just because we loved this product doesn’t mean you will. These are my favorite! Not only do the soft bristles gently massage my gums, it feels great to know that when I have brushed the life out of one it doesn’t end up in a landfill. Now that is something to smile about.

Love love this brush! I look for excuses to buy news ones when I see them in the store (that is not green is it?) but I do retire my old ones and the curved handle makes a great tiny scrub brush for little places when it’s not longer good for my mouth!

These are really great. Not only is the curved handle perfect for reaching all of your back teeth, but the container is made as a travel case with airholes to help dry out your brush and keep bacteria away!

Thanks for profiling such a wonderful product!

I’ll have to check into them! I wouldn’t mind getting an environmentally friendly replacement for my toothbrush when it wears out.

It’s almost time to replace my toothbrush and I’m so sick of the gazillion crazy-shaped brushes currently in the market. Plus, environmentally friendly brushes? I’m definitely gonna check this out.

They also make razors!!! They are inexpensive and can be used as dispoables, but the most environmentally correct thing is to purchase the blade refills they offer as well! I found them at Wild Oats. They come in packages of 4 razors. Buying the razors and 2 extra packages of blades was cheaper than buying the blades for a name brand re-usable razor. Think of all the razors you throw away if you use disposables!!!

We have three of these at home! They’re great! Echoing Sabrina’s comment: I love that the toothbrush packaging doubles as a “travel case” for the toothbrush:-). My hubby, who purchased these for our family, didn’t tell me about the mailer to return the toothbrush! That’s even better!

Is there anywhere you could buy these in Canada? I know that there is the option of ordering them online but just wanted to know if they could be bought here before buying online.

Tazim, I have seen them in Whole Foods in West Vancouver in Park Royal at the Village. They have a great selection of all sorts of eco products too! I’m definatley planning on getting these when the time comes to get a new brush.

Walmart recently started selling these at their shop, see if your local branch has them available. Also natural food retailer Whole Foods carries them.

I’m a hungarian girl, and I found this page at random, when I use the net. But I was very happy, ’cause I think it’s a very good page. I’m in preventive medicine at the university now, and we’re study a lot for the environment, the earth, the trees…:) I think the problem is in our head, and we must change our mind, and save the earth.
I’m sorry that I can’t buy this product in Hungary:(
